The City of Fort Worth’s new Fire Station 16 replaces a 60-year-old facility with a modern, two-story, double-company station designed to serve the Como, Lake Como, and Ridglea neighborhoods—one of the city’s busiest response areas with more than 5,000 calls annually. Located at the northeast corner of Lovell Avenue and Horne Street, the 12,000-square-foot facility also serves as the headquarters for Battalion 5, supporting both daily operations and regional emergency coordination.

The station is designed to enhance performance, safety, and quality of life for firefighters on 24-hour shifts. The first floor features three pull-through apparatus bays for rapid deployment, along with dedicated areas for fitness, gear storage, decontamination, and on-site medical support. The second floor provides modern living accommodations, including six private dorm rooms, bathrooms with individual showers, and shared amenities such as a kitchen, dining area, and laundry facilities. Built with a durable brick exterior and designed to meet ICC 500 storm shelter standards, the facility ensures resilience in extreme weather conditions. Funded through the 2022 Bond Program, Fire Station 16 reflects Fort Worth’s commitment to investing in critical infrastructure that supports both first responders and the communities they serve.
