DeltaCom Switch

Multiple design-build telecommunications switch site projects across Texas, including facilities in Dallas, Austin, and Houston. These mission-critical environments provide secure infrastructure for uninterrupted telecommunications operations and required integrated design and construction services. Batson-Cook Texas, LLC also served as the contractor on a fast-track, design-build project housing two ITC Network Operation Centers, supporting ITC^DeltaCom and other providers as a web-hosting facility.

The Dallas switch site, located within the former Federal Reserve Bank building, involved converting an existing vault into a secure telecommunications equipment room. Batson-Cook oversaw design, permitting, construction, testing, and commissioning. The scope included architectural upgrades, raised flooring, critical power distribution, backup power systems, precision HVAC, fire protection, security systems, and telecommunications infrastructure.

The Austin and Houston facilities followed similar design-build approaches, tailored to each site’s operational needs. Key elements included redundant electrical systems, specialized cooling, enhanced physical security, structured cabling, and full commissioning of all critical systems.

Each facility was designed to meet stringent telecommunications standards, providing secure, climate-controlled environments capable of supporting 24/7 uptime. Through close coordination with owners, vendors, and utility providers, Batson-Cook ensured seamless system integration while maintaining aggressive schedules. These projects demonstrate expertise in delivering complex, mission-critical infrastructure requiring high levels of reliability, security, and performance.
